We started this project from scratch – with hardly any money, no professional help, and virtually no recognition from the recovery community. When we told people that we wanted to build and run a social enterprise comprised entirely of people with a history of substance misuse we were met with patronizing smiles and sent on our way. We have definitely had to fight and struggle along the way. But this struggle has been tiny compared to our full out tug-of-war with self-destruction and anger and drugs. You see – we are capable of extraordinary things because we are survivors of this crippling affliction.
Two years on and the success of our second hand furniture shops has surpassed even our own expectations. We have since worked collaboratively with other organisations both locally and regionally. We look forward to even more growth. We are proud to be members of The Compass Project.
How You Can Help
If you are starting your journey in recovery and need support to move your new life forward look into becoming a member. Or maybe you are an organisation or group that would like to help us raise funds. Or you simply have some used furniture you are looking to donate to a good cause in Bristol. There is a way for everyone to be part of the solution!
